Terms of Service

These terms apply when you download, buy, or use Rubric (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.

1. What Rubric does

Rubric is a macOS app that lets you hover over a question on your screen, click, and see a suggested answer. Answers are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Use them as a study aid and check anything important yourself.

2. Your account and subscription

Some features need a paid subscription. Plans renew every month until you cancel. Each plan includes a set number of searches per billing period; unused searches don’t carry over. Prices and plan limits are shown on our website and may change, but changes won’t affect a period you’ve already paid for.

You can cancel anytime. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

You can delete your account on our website (log in, open the menu at the top left, and choose Delete account). The account is permanently deleted 30 days after you request it. Deleting your account cancels your subscription, and you can no longer use the App with that account from the moment you request deletion. Any paid time and searches left in the current billing period end with it, and we don’t give partial refunds for them. Within those 30 days, you can log back in on the website to restore your account; your subscription resumes too if its paid period hasn’t ended. Deleting your account doesn’t affect a refund you’re eligible for under our Refund Policy; you can still request it by email.

3. Acceptable use

You’re responsible for how you use the App. In particular, you agree to:

We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

4. Ownership

The App, its design, and its code belong to us. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use the App. The content you capture stays yours.

5. No warranty

The App is provided “as is.” We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don’t guarantee that answers will be correct or that the App will always work without interruption.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, including grades, academic penalties, or lost data. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know through the App or our website. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the new terms.
